Keshet Programs
Keshet & Keshet-Tots are our Hebrew-immersion Israeli education programs for children. Keshet is the Hebrew word for “rainbow” and it’s also a Hebrew acronym for “Community for Language and Culture” or Kehillat Safa V’ Tarbut. These programs are the first of their kind for Israeli families and their kids in Brooklyn, and possibly in America. At the core of these classes is the exceptional Israeli staff that’s committed to creating a nurturing and Israeli environment for the kids, much like the one that we (their parents) grew up in. They bring to Keshet years of experience and expertise, along with much passion and creativity. For more information please contact Yehudit: info@israelisinbrooklyn.org.
Keshet (for children ages 5-7) meets weekly to explore aspects of Israeli identity, Jewish values and holidays in their uniquely Israeli rendering. These innovative programs instill the beauty of Israeli culture and Judaism to students, drawing on music, art, drama, stories and games. Community is not just a part of our name- it is truly central to our identity. Our students and their families take an active part in curriculum-building and in our ongoing programs throughout the year. We aspire to develop in our students a love of Israel’s folklore and its unique history. What unites us is a commitment to Israeli culture, community-building and fluency in the beautiful Hebrew language. Our objective is to raise lifelong learners, motivated by passion and creativity, proud of their Israeli heritage and excited to form bonds with other Israeli kids.
In the program, students experience Israeli music, literature, movies, art and food. They learn about and celebrate Israeli and Jewish holidays together. Our students learn and engage entirely b’ivrit, in Hebrew, encouraging the development of a rich and personal Israeli identity.
